We are seeking a Senior Level Designer to craft precision-based, high-difficulty gameplay experiences inspired by projects like Geometry Dash. This role focuses on designing tightly structured, execution-driven levels that emphasize timing, mechanical clarity, and player skill progression.
You will work closely with gameplay programmers, visual designers, and QA testers to create short-form, high-intensity platforming challenges that are readable, fair, and mechanically demanding.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and prototype Hard-to-Expert difficulty levels
- Create structured gameplay segments (Ship, Wave, gravity mechanics, etc.)
- Balance visual clarity with mechanical challenge
- Conduct iteration cycles based on playtesting data
- Ensure levels meet fairness and readability standards
- Document design intent, timing windows, and difficulty curves
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of level design experience in platformer or rhythm-based games
- Strong understanding of timing, pacing, and player psychology
- Experience designing high-difficulty precision gameplay
- Ability to create clean, readable layouts without unnecessary distractions
- Familiarity with level editors and gameplay scripting tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with rhythm-based or reaction-driven games
- Knowledge of difficulty scaling methodologies
- Understanding of player retention in skill-based games
